February 11, 2023

ًWashington DC, Friday 10 February 2023. The new president of Karama Sahara has been elected; it gives us great pleasure to introduce Karama Sahara and Wynd Kaufmyn as the new president-elect.

Mrs. Kaufmyn grew up in Detroit, Michigan’s Jewish community. She moved west after earning her Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, to pursue her Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. She worked as a professor at City College of San Francisco for 40 years. Wynd will continue her activist work as President of Karama Sahara after retirement. Her experience as a human rights defender in Nicaragua and Palestine qualifies her to assist in the West African region’s struggle for independence and self-determination.
